Bud is a sweet lovable boy who is looking for a home to call his own. After his adventurous beginning he doesn't want to be left outside to his own devices and prefers a family who want to be with him and play and cuddle lots. He is definitely a lap dog with a ton of love to give. He has very striking eyes, both have blue and brown in them.

He is currently working on his leash, potty and crate training at his fosters home in Texas and will be arriving in Seattle on Sat 22nd Aug. along with the rest of his family. He loves toys and other dogs, gets on well with kids and hasn't met a cat yet so isn't sure how he might like them. He is full of puppy energy and will require a puppy training class along with reference checks on any humans that would like to adopt him. His new home must be perused in advance also- just to make sure it's a safe place for him to go.

Bringing a new family member into your home is a HUGE decision and puppies are A LOT of work. Bud is believed to be a Lab/ Catahoula mix and we strongly advise all applicants to check out these breeds before applying. If you're ready to potty train, and work on puppy manners please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org under the forms tab.  Bud's adoption fee is $400. This covers his initial vetting, shots, health certificate, travel expenses, microchip and neuter at one of our approved vets.

Bud's Story

Lexi, Bud's Mom showed up at a house in Waco, Texas last fall wearing a frayed rope around her neck and desperately wanted in the home. The family dog took advantage when she finally went into heat and Bud and his 4 siblings were born on Mother's Day, 5-10-15. The dogs were doing okay. They had food to eat and kids to play with but that was about as good as life would get for them. Parents Lexi and Clyde were used to getting out of the yard and wandering the rural streets. The  family tried to help by putting out a Free Puppies sign on this seldom traveled road. Luckily a neighbor decided to have a yard sale when an animal rescuer asked about the puppies. At this point the puppies were getting brave enough to dig out of their back yard and were even willing to brave a loose hot wire on the ground which was supposed to keep them in the yard. They were 13 weeks old and already wanted to run with the pack in the neighborhood. The rescuer spent two weeks sharing news of the puppies and Lexi with rescuer contacts but no one was able to take them in. The local shelter was full and going through renovations. Going there was of little help to this little family or other dogs in need in the community. Finally the rescuer said enough and took in two of the pups. It was inevitable that the local shelter was the only option other than leaving them where they were. The first two pups were spayed and neutered and recovering in the rescuer’s home to help them get adopted quicker once surrendered. While talking with the previous family to see if they were able to find homes for any of the remaining puppies they shared they would be keeping one of the little boys. At this time AARF spotted the family on Facebook and agreed to take in this precious litter along with their Mom. The local rescuer checked the remaining pups often until she had a foster lined up. Finally a place to stay while waiting for transport was found and the remaining puppies and their mother Lexi were rescued. Daddy Clyde (being a Southern gentle dog, lol) walked them all to the car and practically begged the rescuer to take him as well. Clyde’s mother has been counseled on how to keep him safe and healthy with a heavy emphasis on having him neutered. She was also informed of a local low cost animal clinic’s program to have a free neuter surgery if the puppy they kept was neutered by 5 months of age.

Aarf is a purely foster and volunteer based rescue and as such may take a couple of days to get back to you, we thank you for your patience as we go through the process. As we do not have a central facility it is only possible for applicants with applications on file to meet our pups :)
